Many complain that BMW is no longer making service manuals available to owners.
This is a common complaint for new vehicle owners for autos too. The Federal Trade Commission has taken action against Harley-Davidson for restricting owners from repairing their own motorcycles by using terms in warranties by using non H-D parts. To see more about this topic the AMA Action Center and federal H.R. 6570 the “REPAIR Act” is recommended. With luck we may get the manuals needed.
