The Gateway Riders take a break, for brake maintenance! It was perfect weather for the Gateway Riders’ 2025 Spring Tech Session held on Saturday, April 12, 2025. A sunny day and mild temps brought out about a dozen riders to western Washington, Missouri for the 10:00 am to 2:00 pm event. Bikes lined both sides of the street.

Hosted by Technical Director, Ted Schmidt, the topic was the “proper maintenance of brakes,” and it was a hands-on demonstration. While the GS bike Ted was using for a demo wasn’t quite ready for new brake pads, it was time for some maintenance including a visual inspection and brake line bleeding. Ted demoed the task the “BMW” way with proper techniques to protect paint finish and components from any potential caustic brake fluid damage. Thanks to Ted and everyone who turned out. A few photos below show all the action.
