The day started out with a pleasant 50 mile Phil Sulfstede led ride through the wooded hills and valleys not far from the new store including the hamlets of Pond and St Alban’s, The 42° temp remained steady from start to finish. Perfect day for electrics! One thing is for sure, a test ride from the new Gateway will be infinitely better than those from the old facility.
Chatted briefly with Honz on return. He still has major signage coming from Motorrad and plans to build out the SE corner with a Ducati display. That area is now filled with Royal Enfield’s. Walking outside, you’re greeted with enough orange Beta bikes to make you think you had stepped out of the factory in Italy! “Beyond the sea of Betas, “Teach” McNeil was wowing the crowd. His usual jaw dropping show was enhanced by the speed his was able to generate on the extra long asphalt. Back indoors there was a Beta Trials bike balance competition.
Membership is Director Glenn Phillips lodged an all out effort to sign up new members. His new brochure along with efforts by Shari and Dan Chapman netted the club ten new members and $260 in dues. The many current members sporting club t-shirts had to help this effort.
I’ve been to a bunch of these events, but can’t remember seeing this large a spread of wonderful food. Liz Huff and her staff outdid themselves. Something for every taste, the shredded beef, potato salad and carrot cake were my favorites.
We are very lucky to have such a high quality dealer in St. Louis. The place looks spectacular! Congrats to Honz and staff!
Several of the photos were shot at the Christmas Open House.
